Entry Level Hiring

McGuireWoods welcomes applications from third year law students for entry-level associate positions in our US offices as our staffing needs dictate. The firm relies on the summer program to fill the majority of its entry level positions, however, when our hiring needs are not met from the ranks of our summer program, the firm will consider third year law students for open positions. We look for applicants with strong academic credentials and experience who also share our dedication to quality, teamwork, and professional excellence. Summer Program

Programs are offered in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles (Century City), Richmond and Washington D.C.

You are cordially invited to apply for McGuireWoods’ summer program. The program balances work, training and social activities to provide a realistic snapshot of associate life at McGuireWoods.

The firm visits numerous law schools in the fall to interview 2L students for the program. Interviewers discuss your practice area interests and geographic preferences, and then make recommendations to our offices on call-back interviews. If you are invited in, you will visit the local office and meet with numerous lawyers in a variety of practice areas. We will review your interview evaluations and, will make every effort to get you an answer as quickly as possible.

As a summer associate, you will participate in events that give you a chance to meet other lawyers and summer associates. You will be assigned at least one mentor to introduce you to the firm, the lawyers in the office and the city where you’ll be working. Rather than rotating formally through firm departments, you’ll be encouraged to work on projects in all areas of practice. Assigning lawyers will evaluate your work, and you will receive regular feedback.

At the end of the summer program, we make offers based on the quality of your work and on the hiring needs of the office. Offers are made for a specific office, and the firm makes every effort to accommodate your practice-area interests.
