Lawyer Recruiting: Summer Program The firm visits numerous law schools in the fall to interview 2L students for the program. Interviewers discuss your practice area interests and geographic preferences, and then make recommendations to our offices on callback interviews. If you’re called back, you’ll visit the local office and meet with four to six attorneys. Then, the Recruiting Committee will review your interview evaluations, and in most cases, will make a decision within two weeks. As a summer associate, you'll participate in events that give you a chance to meet other attorneys and summer associates. You are assigned at least one mentor to introduce you to the firm, the lawyers in the office, and the city where you’ll be working. Rather than be formally rotated through firm departments, you’ll be encouraged to work on projects in all areas of practice. Assigning attorneys will evaluate your work, and the Recruiting Committee will use those evaluations to provide feedback to you. Some of the criteria on which you are evaluated include your quality of legal reasoning, analysis and judgment, writing skills, understanding of projects, and your interaction with the lawyers on project teams. At the end of the program, the Recruiting Committee reviews evaluations provided by the assigned attorneys, and any other evaluations and comments provided to the committee, in order to make offer determinations. Offers are made for a specific office, and the firm tries to accommodate the practice area interests noted. For more information, please e-mail/call the appropriate office contact. |
